Trudeau to Make Canadian Citizenship More Affordable for Immigrants

Canadian Citizenship

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has sent his mandate letter to Immigration Minister Marco Mendicino asking for a plan to eliminate the fees required to apply for Canadian citizenship. The fee has been a strong barrier preventing newcomers from becoming Canadian citizens. The current processing fee of $530 for adults, the $100 right-of-citizenship fee, plus an extra $100 for applicants under 18 could bring the cost to $1,460 for a family of four.
